So this will be a short one since not much has happened in Oldtown. In my opinion its main purpose this season was as a plot device for the set up of the next season. I’m hoping to do one more of these before the show starts. The last one will be looking at the Wall and Eastwatch by the Sea.

Summary of Events
The events of this season was centered around the Citadel and Samwell Tarly’s training to become an archmaester for the Wall and also find out what he can about the White Walkers. Through him Jon was able to locate the cache of Dragonglass on Dragonstone. Jorah was cured from Greyscale. And he had found proof of Jon’s trueborn heritage and that he is heir to the Iron Throne.
Notable People
- Samwell Tarly – Originally Sam arrived at the Citadel with the goal of forging his Maester’s chain. However he became frustrated with watching the Archmaesters not take action to fight the threat beyond the Wall and has left with Gilly to go to Winterfell.
- Gilly – Gilly and baby Sam joined Sam at the Citadel and Gilly started learning how to read and write. It was Gilly who had first read the truth to who Jon’s parents are but because she mispronounced Rhaegar Sam didn’t connect the dots until later.
- Jorah Mormont – Jorah had ended up at the Citadel in his search for a cure for Greyscale. Sam had decided to perform a risky operation to help him and it appears to have worked. Jorah then made his way back to Daenerys. He joined Jon beyond the Wall as they attempted to capture a Wight to provide proof for Cersei.
- Archmaester Ebrose – Ebrose is the only person in the Citadel to believe Sam’s account of the White Walkers however prevents him from studying the old texts because it would break Citadel protocol.
